엘리야의 좌절과 하나님의 위로

Elijah is a soldier of faith who single handedly defeated 450 foreign prophets. However Elijah breaks down when Jezebel threatens him. Scared, and intimidated, Elijah failed to see God’s glory but his cruel situation. Then he began to believe faulty things. Jezebel’s power and death of other prophets brought him fright and terror. Elijah was so discouraged he prayed for his death. He traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. And the word of the LORD came to him: "What are you doing here, Elijah?" Today God asks us when we are tired and defeated “Why are you doing here?” the Lord told Elijah “Go back the way you came”. Today the Lord tells us to go back to where we came from. With a different tone of voice, voice of comfort and consolation he tells us to go back to place where we belong. 엘리야는 혼자의 힘으로 450명의 이방선지자를 대적하여 이긴 믿음의 용사입니다. 하지만 엘리야는 이세벨의 공갈 협박을 듣고 좌절 하게 됩니다. 두려움 속에서 엘리야는 하나님의 영광을 바라보지 못하고 환경을 바라보았습니다. 그때 그 환경은 거짓된 것을 믿게 만들었습니다. 이세벨의 권력과 다른 선지자들의 죽음은 엘리야에게 두려움과 좌절을 안겨 주었습니다. 결국 자신의 처지를 비관하고 좌절 속에서 죽기를 간구 하기에 이릅니다. 호렙산에 오른 엘리야에게 하나님께서 물으십니다. “네가 왜 여기 있느냐?” (What are you doing here?)(9,13) 오늘날 하나님께서 우리의 좌절 가운데 물으십니다. “네가 왜 여기 있느냐?” 하나님께서 다시 엘리야에게 말씀 하십니다. “돌아가라”(15) 오늘날 하나님께서 우리에게 말씀 하십니다. “돌아가라” 하나님께서 주신 우리의 자리로 돌아가라고 하십니다. 이 하나님의 음성은 이전과는 다른 세밀한 음성이었습니다. 바로 위로 하시는 하나님의 음성이었습니다.
