말과 그 이상의 생각

목회는 소방관의 역할을 할 때가 있습니다. 여기 저기서 끊임없이 작은 불씨들이 일어나기 때문입니다. A pastorate work can sometimes be compared to a role of firefighters, for wrong choice of words can symbolize the metaphorical fire in our lives. 말에 의한 불란의 씨는 사람의 마음을 격동 시켜서 모든 것을 태워버리게 만듭니다. (야고보서 3장6절-10절) And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. (James chapter 3: 6~10) 성경은 “ 그 이상의 생각을 품지 말라” 고 가르치고 있습니다. (롬 12:3) The Bible also teaches us, “not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think” (Romans 12:3) 사람들은 쉽게, 말을 들으면서 “그 이상의 생각”에 집중합니다. When communicating, people tend to focus on what is probably more than what it actually is. 사람에 대한, 교회에 대한 “그 이상의 생각”은 실망과 좌절을 안겨줍니다. This is alarming because having more expectation about people and church could bring us disappointments and frustrations. “그 이상의 생각”은 이단에 빠지게 만듭니다. 잘못 전하는 말 한마디는 사람을 죽이기도 합니다. Thinking of himself higher than he ought to think makes people believe in paganism. In extreme cases, a word that you misinterpret can kill a person. 우리가 다른 사람의 말을 하려면 다음의 사항들에 집중해야 합니다. If we want to talk about someone else using words, we have to ask ourselves these questions beforehand to prevent any ‘metaphorical fire’. - 내가 그 사람을 사랑하고 도울 마음이 있는가? Do I have sincere love for him and am I willing to help that person, if in need? - 그 사람을 위해 기도했는가? Did I ever, even once, pray for that person? 그렇다면 절대로 그 사람에 대해서 쉽게 말하지 않는다는 것입니다. With these questions in mind, we will remember to never talk about anyone carelessly, preserving the faith in people and their words as we know them today.
